Jotter

Help

Connect

Add Jotter as a connector or MCP server in your assistant, then sign in when prompted:

https://jotter.fyi/mcp

The connect steps for each assistant are on the home page; the Works with page lists everything compatible. Use the same email everywhere: your jots live in one account, and signing into an assistant with a different email creates a different, empty account.

Everyday use

Everything happens in the chat. Just say it:

"jot this" or "save this as a handoff" to save. "load my latest jot" or "continue my last handoff" to pick up in another assistant. "what did I jot about pricing?" to search. "list my jots" to see everything you have saved. "delete jot X7K2-M9QT" to delete. Codes like X7K2-M9QT work with or without the dash, any capitalization.

Troubleshooting

The assistant saved one jot, then stops using Jotter

Some fast chat models get flaky about tools mid-conversation (we see this with ChatGPT's Instant model). Switch the conversation to a Thinking or Auto model, or start a fresh chat. Jotter itself is fine, and your saved jots are safe.

I upgraded, but the assistant says I'm still at the limit

Your account upgrades within a minute or two of payment. If the assistant keeps repeating the old limit message, it is usually answering from earlier in the conversation without actually retrying. Start a new conversation and save again, or tell it plainly: "try the save again now."

A jot saved in one assistant doesn't show up in another

Almost always a sign-in mismatch. Check that both assistants are signed into Jotter with the same email. Different emails are different accounts, each with its own jots.

"Rate limit exceeded"

A burst limiter protects the service. Wait a minute and try again; normal use never hits it.

"Content is too large"

A single jot holds up to 1 MB of text, far more than a conversation summary needs. If you hit it, split the content into two jots.

You've reached the free plan's limit

Free includes 10 jots. Delete one you no longer need ("delete jot CODE") to make room, or upgrade to Pro for 5,000. Existing jots always stay readable either way; nothing ever auto-deletes.
